The holidays are now behind us and it’s time to start working on the 2009 marketing campaigns. Depending on your business, there are some very important promotional areas to keep on your radar in the first quarter of 2009. A few marketing highlights include presidential inaugurations, the Super Bowl, Valentine’s Day, and yes, the beginning of spring in March.
If any of these themes allow you to build an advertising campaign for your business, now is the time to start planning and developing exciting emails to send to your customers. Here are a few email marketing tips to get you started:
1. Make sure your email list is up to date. Add all the emails you need to add to the list and delete any unsubscribed from your previous emails.
2. Make sure you’re on brand. If you changed anything about your company’s logo in late 2008, make sure all your marketing plans, including emails, now include your updated company look. Update your business cards, website, in-store signage and anything else that reflects your company’s identity. Consistency is important.
3. Review your lead generation system to make necessary changes and updates. If you have new places to run wires, make sure they run through your system.
4. Try something new or different in 2009. If you did email marketing in 2008, challenge yourself to do something different in 2009, such as embedding videos, podcasts, or new and exciting promotional offers. Always challenge yourself to be more creative with emails.
Above all, take the time to make your email marketing a priority. Momentum is the number one part of a successful email marketing campaign throughout the year. With a sluggish economy, your customers and potential customers need even more reasons to shop with you.
